Uncle Larry’s Medicinal Salad Dressing

·       Olive oil as part of Mediterranean diet that may prevent heart disease, high blood pressure or stroke.

·       Apple Cider Vinegar helps control diabetes, alleviates joint pain and inflammation, and helps lower cholesterol.

·       Honey helps boost the immune system.

·       Garlic strengthens the immune system, helps with cardiovascular disease, aids in the prevention of multiple types of cancer, and regulates blood sugar.

·       Ginger alleviates nausea, helps reduce muscle pain and soreness, is a natural anti-inflammatory, may lower blood sugar and prevent heart disease.

·       Parmesan cheese as an added fat in order to help the body absorb vitamins and nutrients from the salad.

·       Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory, increases the antioxidant capacity of the body, improves brain function, lowers the risk of brain disease, lowers the risk of heart disease, can help prevent and possibly treat cancer, and may be useful in preventing and treating Alzheimer’s disease.

 

Recipe (makes enough for 8 large salads.  Use a Good Seasonings Cruet for mixing, storing and serving.)

1 small shallot (or 1 lobe from a large shallot) (peeled and thinly minced)

½ cup extra virgin olive oil

½ cup Bragg apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon fresh ground pepper

½ teaspoon dried basil

1 fresh garlic clove finely minced and smashed (How to smash garlic)

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely grated (Microplane zester/grater)

1 ½ tablespoons fresh grated parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon turmeric
