Key Lime Pie

 

9 key limes or 3 regular limes

2 teaspoons lime zest

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk (regular or fat free)

3 egg whites

8 oz. cool whip (frozen whipped topping, thawed)

Sugared lime zest, optional

 

Preheat oven to 325F. 

 

In bowl, grate 2 tsp. zest and squeeze ½ cup juice from limes. 

Whisk in milk and egg whites.  Pour into crust.  Bake 20-25 minutes or until filling is set. 

Cool completely on rack.  Spread with topping and garnish with sugared zest, if desired.
